Orange County’s library system has won national awards for its transformation into a high-tech center with a focus on education and job-skills training.
We’ve evolved beyond the ‘building with books’ model,” said Mary Anne Hodel, CEO of the Orange system. “We’re now more of a technology hub, a space to access technology.”
The changes — including e-books, digital magazines and classes that cardholders can take from home — remain in line with a library’s classic mission, Hodel said.
