VI SOURCE: viNGN Board approves purchases for Public Computer Centers


(VI Source) Board members of the Virgin Islands Next Generation Network, Inc. (viNGN) took swift action Wednesday to ensure the availability of equipment vital to the completion of renovations for three Public Computer Centers (PCCs).

An evaluation committee reviewed four potential bid packages, and Computer Solutions’ proposal was the one selected to be presented to the board. The needed work is expected to be completed by September 30.

The Virgin Islands Next Generation Network (viNGN) was established in 2010 as a public corporation; it is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Virgin Islands Public Finance Authority. viNGN was funded primarily from a grant by the National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) as part of a federal program to improve the broadband capacity in the United States, its territories, and the District of Columbia.The program is called the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).
