    • Good afternoon Velma Brown – Yes, you can prepare locally for the GED. Visit the Adult Education web page for GED services here: and then contact the Department of Education/Adult Education to register.

You can also access a free practice test for the GED. To actually take the test and be scored, you will need to locate a GED testing center.

To access the free practice test please visit There, you will find instructions in English and Spanish, as well as links to practice exams to be done on a computer. You will find Math, RLA (Reasoning through Language Arts), Social Studies and Science. There is a link to an Extended Response Scoring Guide, but that is for educators so you do not need to download it.

You do not need to have an account or pay for the free practice exam. It is recommended to work with the Adult Education version, for more guidance and tracking your progress to better ensure success for you. Visit this page for contact information and to find out when the next course will be scheduled –

      We wish you the best!
