Join the Virgin Islands Next Generation Network (viNGN) on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 2pm-4:30pm for a PCC Launch Event at the Elaine Ione Sprauve Public Library Public Computer Center, providing Digital Literacy fun and information for the entire family.
viNGN was established as a subsidiary of the Virgin Islands Public Finance Authority in 2010, as part of a federal program to improve the broadband capacity in the United States, its territories, and the District of Columbia via the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP). As part of its mission, viNGN continues to promote community technology initiatives for the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
“Digital Literacy in the 21st century is extremely important,” states viNGN Insular PCC Site Manager (St. John) & School Technology Coordinator Pamela Finley. “Basic computing skills are necessary in our daily lives.”
Special guest speaker for the event is Kisha Corbett, St. Thomas/St. John District Director of Technology. Attendees will receive information on Internet safety for children, a parent’s guide to smart phone safety, find opportunities to volunteer at PCCs, and meet the viNGN team.
