PBS.org: Famous scientists’ struggles can motivate today’s students

Kids' Stuff 331(PBS.org via WGBH) – Just as it is important to acknowledge the hours of practice and personal sacrifices made by a celebrity or star athlete, a new study suggests that students who witness the struggle behind the discoveries can actually do better academically.

Instead of simply noting the achievement, which can make a human being appear larger than life, taking the time to learn of the failures and serendipitous moments that led to a great discovery… and the improvements were most significant for lower-scoring students. (read more)
