(ReadFive.org) – The 8th Annual VI Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge, a partnership of the Office of the Governor, and the Department of Education, is designed to motivate students K-6 to read at least 5 books from June 8-September 23, 2016. It’s open to all USVI public, private and parochial school students enrolled in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
Students must track their reading and complete a minimum of 5 books in order to earn an invite to one of the “Fun Days” being planned for the St. Croix and St. Thomas/St. John districts. Exceptional achievement will also be recognized during these events! Students may visit any of our public libraries to get books to read, or access e-Books at www.virginislandspubliclibraries.org.

We're on Instagram!Celebrating Ivanna Eudora Kean 12th grader and Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) intern Lennard “Lenny” Finley as he completed his 6 week Career Technical Education internship. Finley worked with other departments, and reported to Celestino White, Jr. who was his supervisor in his acting capacity as Lead Field Technician. Lenny provided energy and focus as he explored fiber optics installations and recovery, inside wiring and network design with our OSP and Network Ops teams; Mr. Finley has been an awesome pleasure to work with, and we wish him only the best as he pursues his dreams, beginning at the University of the Virgin Islands!
