Youth advocate and USVI YWCA founding president Donnalie Edwards-Cabey will facilitate a series of free Mastermind Group study sessions “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” based upon the ground-breaking book by noted author, pastor and leadership motivator John C. Maxwell. For 5 weeks, 2 separate groups will meet as follows: Mastermind Group 1 – Wednesdays beginning Jan. 11, 2017 via telephone conference call, from 8:00pm-9:00pm; and Mastermind Group 2 – Saturdays beginning Feb. 4, 2017, at the St. Andrew’s Church Public Computer Center, #50, 9th Street Sugar Estate & 1st Avenue, from 12:30pm-1:30pm.

The 5-week in-depth study will provide opportunity to commune with forward-thinking individuals, network and focus on taking life to new levels of personal satisfaction and success.

In addition to consulting for the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands and the USVI Kids Count Project, Donnalie Edwards-Cabey started the YWCA of the Virgin Islands, Inc. (October 2006) and is the founding president. From 2007-2015 she was a member of the board of the Virgin Islands Perinatal Incorporated (VIPI), a local non-profit that offers health care services to women and children. She is also an advisory council member of the International Center for Non-Profit Law (ICNL).

Becoming an independent certified coach, teacher and speaker for the world-renowned John Maxwell Team is a natural extension of a lifelong passion for service, says Edwards-Cabey. “I am at heart always a youth worker, teacher/facilitator, mentor and program development and strategic planner, work that I did many years before and which still becomes my default setting… so I am excited to take all of that into my work as a member of the John Maxwell Team.”

“Having the support and ideas from other focused and driven people allows us to see things differently and to get a new perspective on goals and action plans. Together, we will learn how to effectively raise our leadership lid by understanding and implementing the principles of the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership,” she concludes.

A student of Economics and History at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados, Ms. Edwards-Cabey holds an LLB (Hons) Degree in Law from Holborn College, University of Wolverhampton in the UK. She also holds certificates in Youth Work and Non-Profit Management,  and is a certified Mediator through the UVI PULSE program.

Pre-registration is required for the Mastermind Group sessions. Students may sign up for ONE of either study group (Group 1/teleconference OR Group 2/live). There is no online component being offered. The 5 course sessions are at no cost to participants and there are a maximum of 10 seats available for each group. This course does not include the book “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” by John C. Maxwell which will be the responsibility of each student. Interested persons may request further details or sign up to take part in a study group via email to donnaliejmt@ywcavi.org.
