Ham Radio Operators to meet Nov. 1 on St. Thomas

walkie talkies pixabay.com image radio-set-1224721Ham radio operators (or those who would like to be) are invited to begin preparing for the 2019 Technician’s Exam with a get-acquainted and study session on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. It will be held in the Small Business Development Center’s Training Facility which is located in Suite 720 on the second floor of the Nisky Shopping Center.

This first session will allow the team and interested individuals to get to know each other and plan for best dates, times and venues for continued study. Learn what ham radio is all about, how to put together a starter kit, and how ham radio communications can be a lifeline in times of emergency, allow distance communication to foster inter-continental exchange, and provide social interaction to those who are in remote areas or with limited mobility options.

The training is free; the 2019 examination fee is nominal ($15), and study material may be found online or purchased for $30. Actual exam dates are subject to class progress, and registrants will be notified of all possible dates to sit for the examination. For further details or questions, please send email to Dr. Henry Smith (henrysmith2231@gmail.com).
