hour of code activities screen shotThe Hour of Code activities for 2018 have been announced, with an invitation to everyone from the ages of 4 to 104 around the world to celebrate #CSEdWeek Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 3-9, 2018) with just one Hour of Code! This year, you’re invited to explore a brand new activity from Code.org and Microsoft: Minecraft Voyage Aquatic!

Since its launch in 2013, this fun and interactive introduction to programming has introduced computing concepts to nearly 640 million students of all ages in 180 countries, and in dozens of languages.

The Hour of Code is designed to introduce communities and especially children from kindergarten to 12th grade to computer science education. It is held in conjunction with Computer Science Education Week to commemorate the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).

Hour of Code activities may be done with computers, online… or “unplugged” (without computers), and/or offline. It is not necessary to be a computer scientist to host an Hour of Code – the variety of lessons will provide a great start from where ever you are. In other words, the Hour of Code is accessible to anyone with the desire to be a part of it.
