cyberbullying brochure imageThe St. Thomas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Saturday Academy invited viNGN to provide a Cyberbullying workshop entitled “Do YOU Feel Safe Online?” on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018. The Saturday Academy meets every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.

Included in the workshop were segments on recognizing different forms of cyberbullying, how to deal with cyberbullying behavior, seeking help, real-life consequences, and the legal ramifications of cyberbullying. The workshop also featured the short NetSmartz film, “6 Degrees of Information” to help students define online personality types that might be susceptible to cyberbullying activities. NetSmartz is a division of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Each student received a pamphlet for reviewing the main points, including actions to take and a list of free resources to use or share. Adult counselors also received English and Spanish copies of the NetCetera publication “Chatting With Kids About Being Online”.
