All juniors and seniors attending a public high school in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands are eligible to apply for Alpine’s SAT Prep & 1000 Words Challenge. The free sessions will be held at the Charlotte Amalie High School on Saturdays, September 14 and November 9, and 16, with a closing ceremony on November 23, 2019. The training is intended to help students become acquainted with SAT tests, improve scores, enable test-taking practice, and increase vocabulary and mathematical skills.

The course was developed to address the fact that according to the College Board, 935 (out of 1600) is the average mean SAT score of 635 high school students who took the SAT in the USVI during the 2017-18 school year. The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) score is not a predictor of potential; nor does it measure intelligence. However, these scores can influence students’ college choices and career paths.

Space is limited to the first 50 public high school junior and senior students who register by Wednesday, September 11, 2019.

This training is absolutely free; students are advised to register early for this unique opportunity to get familiar with the SAT exam and words that are critical to succeed in and beyond college.

Visit and click “Register Now” to get started.

** What if I am on another island, don’t live in the U.S. Virgin Islands, or cannot attend the formal classes hosted by Alpine Securities?

You can still practice for the SAT and work to get higher scores, while improving your vocabulary. Of course, you will not be able to enjoy all of the benefits of being inside the classroom or the prizes offered.

Any parent or guardian or group can get high school juniors and seniors engaged in getting ready for college – or, if you are a determined student, you can even do this on your own.

  1.
