CAN Academy to Launch Workforce Development Certification Courses on St. Thomas June 24

The Community Action Now! Academy (CANAcademy) USVI is set to launch a series of Workforce Development courses through the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Labor (VIDOL). Registration ends June 8th, and classes will begin June 24th. Contact your VIDOL representative to register, (340) 776-3700:

  • Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) – 8 weeks
    • Includes Microsoft Specialist Certification and CAP Certification
  • Certified Bookkeeping Professional (CB) – 12 weeks
    • Includes Quickbooks and the Certified Bookkeeping Certification
  • Entrepreneurship and Small Business Certification (ESB) – 5 weeks
    • Prepares business owners to start and expand their small businesses

Senator Millin Young Urges Greater Use of viNGN Public Computer Sites Throughout the Territory

The public’s use of V.I. Next Generation Network Public Computer Centers is beginning to grow, according to Senator Janette Millin Young. Millin Young, who heads the Senate’s Committee on Economic Development, Agriculture and Planning, visited some of the PCCs on St. Thomas Thursday, along with viNGN President and CEO Larry Kupfer. She said she wanted to see, first hand, the progress viNGN is making and how it will impact business and employment in the territory. Continue reading
