A Hackathon with a twist: “Disaster Hack” the theme of 2017 UVI HackFest

The University of the Virgin Islands, NEARix, EPSCoR, UVI RT Park and UVIdea will host its 2017 edition of UVI HackFest on both campuses November 17-18, 2017 with a twist. The theme will be “Disaster Hack”, inviting students to create apps we wish we had before, during and after the hurricanes. The focus is on proactively identifying and addressing problems while generating solutions in service to the community at large. Continue reading

St. Thomas-based Girls Who Code Club Seeks Volunteers


Girls Who Code, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the largest pipeline of future female engineers in the U.S.A., has approved the establishment of a chapter in the United States Virgin Islands (Club Code VI728), hosted at the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas campus. A call has been issued for volunteer Facilitators, 18 years and up for activities beginning this fall. Continue reading
